Alllright!!
Ok, so I have asked some other major warriors to add stuff to the site and give some input on diets and workout strategies. The point is this - we want more ways to get fit through strength training using some untraditional methods and processes. This would include anything from throwin' tires to climbing 14er's. Questions might include: What type of diet works for you? What kind of poundage do you use? Any books out there to read? Websites to visit? Supplements to try? Whatever.... For example, I recently began doing deadlifts, cleans, powerbench, and (starting this week) Turkish getups once a week. Should I split this workout into two days? How should I change my diet? Keep in mind, I still want to run 3-4 times a week going between 12-18 miles. Thoughts? B

What is a turkish get up?
A turkish getup is laying flat on the floor with a dumbell held up as if you pressed it (chest press). you move from laying flat on the floor to standing holding the dumbell over your head the entire time. So, start by sitting up and putting one arm in a support position behind you. Raise the same side leg as the arm that is raised, while holding the dumbell over your head, and stand up, still holding the dumbell over your head. When you stand you should be in the position of a standing one handed dumbell shoulder press. The point of the exercise is complete body workout with an emphasis on core. It takes a couple of times to be able to lift the weight that will ultimately thrash you. Stick with it for guaranteed results.
