Back!

Back from the sickness and ready to get some! I am refocused on core and the fundamentals. Haven't run in almost a week and I know that it will be slow going for awhile, but got to do it. Out for now!

Dudes

Killed it tonight - 5 sets of deads ending at 292 for 2 (not too bad), went to 3 cycles of 10x40 DBell press, 20 pushups, 10 pull-ups; 3 sets of cleans 6x135; to 2 cycles of 10x40 DBell press, 20 push-ups, 10 pull-ups, 10x70lbs press down, 10x95lbs bar curls. I was sweaten' like mad, but now I feel great. Get Some!

Super sauce

No need for the Vitamin S. It is pathetic when the soup runs out and the dudes get small - why bother?

You da man

Mike, you da man! I got to change up the routine to incorporate more of the "whole body" lifts. I am with you on the looking thing - as long as my wife likes to shag with the lights on, I am good to go. I am using the Whole Bohdy Cleanse from Enzmatic. The wify got it from the Vitamin Shoppe. I really like it. I feel lighter, more awake, and I believe it is working. If this does not do the trick, a colon cleanse is next (hot water and all). Consider - deads, cleans, pullups, pushups, military press - twice a week for a month. Thoughts? Arms are done on the side.

Yo Mike

Dude, I agree - quality of mind and self begins with self-reflection. There are so many things out there that can lead us astray, but at the moment of truth, that one instant, we decide our future. Steriods - instant gratification with ever devastating effects. F that!!

Need some imput!

Had a good weekend. Took Sat off which might have been really good for the body and I am sure the mind. Went out today in the foggy and cold weather for a 5.5 miler - the weather felt good, but my body was not used to the extra layers of clothing and cold feeling. Can't wait for the snow. // I am thinking of changing the workout to incorporate more core work, to include deads, cleans, adn whatever else I can find. Believe it or not, I am lossing weight as I continue to focus on no specific diet or routine. Sounds crazy, but I said "screw it, I am too old for that shit". I work out to feel good, not to win the admiration of the ladies or make the $olies. I also started to take a whole boby cleanser that my spousal unit got from Vitamin Shoppe. I have more energy and take actually take a meaningful $%#@. Let me know if you arer interested and I can give you the name of the supp.

Alllright!!

Ok, so I have asked some other major warriors to add stuff to the site and give some input on diets and workout strategies. The point is this - we want more ways to get fit through strength training using some untraditional methods and processes. This would include anything from throwin' tires to climbing 14er's. Questions might include: What type of diet works for you? What kind of poundage do you use? Any books out there to read? Websites to visit? Supplements to try? Whatever.... For example, I recently began doing deadlifts, cleans, powerbench, and (starting this week) Turkish getups once a week. Should I split this workout into two days? How should I change my diet? Keep in mind, I still want to run 3-4 times a week going between 12-18 miles. Thoughts? B

More and More

Are you a better man today than you were yesterday? Ask yourself that question all day and see how you feel. Self reflection is the begginning of growth.

What!?!

I saw today in a major fitness magazine the playground workout. Of course, it was some totally huge dude that you know has never even heard of the playground workout until they did a photo shoot there. AND, I bet he never goes back. The playground workout is for those that want to get strong and fit without the B.S. of the gym. I had 25 minutes in the gym today and I knocked out 6 sets of deads (135x10, 185x10, 225x8, 275x3, 275x3, 275x3) and 5sets of cleans (135x5, 135x5, 135x5, 115x8 explosive, 95x10 super explosive). Right now I am dying, but I know I got a pretty insane workout. 20 minutes is all it took and I was dripping major sweat.

wkend is over

I did it! Rob and I climbed two peaks on Sat. First was Bierstad which we peaked by 8am, then was Mt. Evans which we peaked at 11am. The hike was fun. We had a great pace going until we got to the saddle (Sawtooth) between Bierstad and Evans. It was all class 3 and took some work to find the trails. The cairns were few and far between, so the route was tough to locate. The toughest part was the decent, which was hairy, muddy, and painfull. My legs were tremblin' on the way down. Anyways, the hike was a blast and the cardio workout was amazing. If you want to test yourself, go blast out some 14'ers.

Gettin More

Ther next installment of the "get some" club. The past two days have been good for the powerhouse. I did deadlifts and cleans on Weds (4 of deadlifts and 3 of cleans) and today I blasted out 10 for chest, 10 for shoulders, and 10 for back in 45 minutes. AND, I ran a 7-minute mile first. Got to get the blood pumpin' Wish me luck, this weekend I am going to do some hiking, as long as everyone comes through. Hopefully, I will knock out two 14'ers. Peace.

Pull-Ups!!!!

Dude, weighted p/ups are sick! If you want to get a big and super strong back, blast some pull-ups with some weight. I have found that it is best to mix it up. For instance, do 2 sets of 10 as warm ups, then grab a 45lbs plate and rep out as many as you can. You can cheat on maybe two of them just to get the blood flowing. Then keep dropping the weight by 10lbs every time for three more sets and your back will be super strong. Check it out Mike, I am going to get some chains for the dungeon. Two 25lbs chains to throw around the neck p/ups and on the bar for chest. It should be sick. I was using two 25lbs chains when I was in Iraq for p/ups. My back got wicked strong. Get some beast!!

Flakes!

Both dudes flaked on me! No worries, I will get them later. I did the run and the playground session and was wasted the next day. Totally sore and feeling great. I will do again soon. Been running a little this week. Did the four and a half on Sunday, three and a half Tuesday, one today, and will get at least five tomorrow. Did deadlifts, hanging cleans, dumbell pullovers, curls, and skulls today - just enough to feel really good. Got to mix in the power moves if you want the entire package (speed, agility, strength, endurance) otherwise you might as well be a body builder, and the last time I checked, I did not get a paycheck for being in the gym. Late!

Number 1!!

Here is the first blog for 30plusfit.com. Today, I am going to PT with some fellow pain junkies. it is the first step in "playground" training sessions. The first step in a 2-3 mile run (trails) and then using the equipment on the playground at the base of the run for push-ups, dips, and pull-ups. And then, we are traveling out to another location for powerlifting and more playground work. I'll let you know how it goes.
